The field trip to Lam Dong from October 30 to November 1, 2026, provided students of class K18LHA1, majoring in Tourism and Travel Service Management at the Faculty of Tourism, University of Phan Thiet, with valuable learning experiences, helping bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and professional practice from their very first academic year.
Under the theme “Discovering the Land of a Thousand Flowers in Lam Dong,” the program was organized by the Faculty of Tourism, University of Phan Thiet, in collaboration with Sao Mai Trading and Tourism Services Company Limited. The trip offered students an opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to the tourism industry, strengthen their professional knowledge, and gradually familiarize themselves with the practical demands of their chosen field.
Exploring Destinations and Broadening Specialized Knowledge
During the journey, students of class K18LHA1 had the opportunity to visit and explore several distinctive local attractions, including Lam Dong Museum, Da Lat Juvenile Prison, Truc Lam Zen Monastery, Linh Phuoc Pagoda, Domaine de Marie Church, and Phuong Lien Tinh Xu.
At these destinations, students gained insights into distinctive cultural, historical, and architectural values while observing how cultural resources are utilized, preserved, and presented in tourism activities. These experiences also provided an initial foundation for students to develop their understanding of tour commentary development, sightseeing program organization, and effective communication of destination values to visitors.
In addition to cultural and historical attractions, the itinerary also introduced students to experiential tourism and high-tech agricultural models, including Euro Garden, Langbiang Land, Thao Farm, and Berry Valley Strawberry Garden. Here, students had the opportunity to explore how agricultural production, natural landscapes, and tourism product development can be integrated. Through these experiences, they gained a clearer understanding of the potential of ecotourism, agricultural tourism, and experiential tourism amid current tourism development trends.

Highlights from the field trip
Learning Through Real-World Experiences and Gradually Developing Professional Skills
One of the highlights of the trip was the opportunity for students to directly observe and learn about the organization and operation of a tour from the perspective of tourism professionals. Under the guidance of lecturers from the Faculty of Tourism and experienced tour guides from Sao Mai Trading and Tourism Services Company Limited, students were introduced to various practical aspects of tour operations, including itinerary planning, time management, transportation coordination, accommodation and dining service arrangements, and the organization of activities for tour groups. Through these activities, students were able to consolidate their professional knowledge while developing observational skills, communication abilities, and practical problem-solving skills.
Notably, the program “Summary, Networking and Career Sharing,” organized by Sao Mai Trading and Tourism Services Company Limited, created an open and engaging environment for interaction between the business and students. Insights shared by tourism professionals provided students with practical perspectives on the nature of the profession, the competencies required of tourism human resources, as well as the opportunities and challenges involved in career development. This was also a valuable opportunity for UPT students to define their academic goals more clearly, proactively enhance their capabilities, and prepare the necessary knowledge and skills for their future careers.
